What started as a small savings circle has grown into a fully licensed financial cooperative, and regulated by the Bank of Tanzania.
All the employees of TRA are legible to be members. TRA SACCOS LTD is strategically positioned to mobilize savings from the members and advance loans in order to bring about socio-economic welfare of its members. Currently, TRA SACCOS LTD has a total membership of 6000.
Other objectives of the SACCOS are to encourage thrift among its members by educating the members the advantages of developing a savings behavior, through proper investment best practices aimed at improving the social and economic conditions of the members. This is achieved by offering the members complementary savings schemes, credit facilities and other financial products as may be required by the members from time to time

The highest decision making organ in TRA SACCOS LTD as in all other SACCOS is the Annual General Meeting (AGM) while the Management Board assisted by the SACCOS’ employees represents members in the general management of the SACCOS as indicated in the organizational structure.
TRA SACCOS LTD is governed by a Board made up of 7 members composed of 1 woman and 6 men who were elected by the delegates during the Annual General Meeting.
Functions of the Management Board:
- Direct and Monitor the day to day affairs of the Society
- Formulation of administrative and credit policies, the interest rates on loans and deposits
- Preparation of the annual budget
- To register new members and maintain a register for the same
- To prepare financial reports and submit Audited reports to the AGM
- To plan and implement various development programs on behalf of members
- Perform such other duties as the members may direct from time to time at the AGM
